Protocol Page
There are many protocols carried inside of RADIUS. They include PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP, EAP, and a host of additional attributes. The passwords used to authenticate users can also be stored in many different formats, which are not always compatible with the authentication protocols. The protocol compatibility page shows which authentication protocols are compatible with which password storage methods.
In some deployments, passwords are stored in another system such as PAM, and the RADIUS server asks the other system to authenticate the user. The third party authentication server compatibility page shows which authentication protocols are compatible with which authentication system.
